New Year, New Goals, Same Me (For Now)

2013 Vision Board

2012 is almost over and 2013 is about to start, so to celebrate I want to share with everyone reading this blog my Visual Goal Board for 2013. Mainly so I can actually remember my New Year's Resolutions this year (I cannot for the life of me remember where I wrote them down). Even though I don't actually remember my resolutions, I can be pretty sure that they were 100% vague, my logic behind this was if my resolutions are vague then my chances of accomplishing them will increase. But then if you don't have clear goals, how will you know if you actually accomplished them? So this year I am made resolutions that are somewhat clearer than last years. At the end of every month I will check in and talk about my progress with each of these resolutions.  So without further ado here are my top 3 resolutions for 2013...............

IN 2013 I WILL :

Take More Chances, Get Out of My Comfort Zone
As much as I will like to say that I am this amazing Wonder Woman that can battle anything in her path and venture out into the world/realm with her head held high in her skin-tight costume, I'm not her. I am above all a risk-averse introvert, I rarely take chances and I don't take any "leaps of faith",  my back-up plans, have back-up plans, and those plans are carefully planned out with hours (or maybe minutes of research). So this year, I am going to try to do new things (like zip lining, rock climbing, wear heels for longer than an hour and maybe take some cooking classes) and maybe on the way I will find new hobbies and make new friends (but I will still continue to plan).

Be A Better Blogger
It has been a year since I have started my blog and my writing style has evolved since then. However, I am still not happy with my current writing style. However overall I am happy with my progress. I want to find new and creative ways to present my blog posts and outfits for my readers, because I want to be a source of inspiration and amusement for everyone. Also in 2013 I want to engage with my readers more by writing more interesting and stylish posts.

Think About The Future (More)
Okay, I know that I said earlier that I am a planner and I did create a blog post this year about where I want to see myself in about 5 years, but I am not huge planner when it comes to my future. I just recently started to think about it after some nudging from my father, I started to plan my future. I have decided to go to graduate school for Marketing and I will be studying for the GMAT during the Spring and Summer. In 2013 I will be planning my future more beyond graduate school ,because at max graduate school will be two years which means after that I will no longer be a formal student-that will always be my favorite profession-.

My Top 4 Blog Posts of 2012

2012 has been the year of growth for me and my blog. A couple of months ago this blog celebrated it's first birthday , as any blogger will tell you the first year is always the hardest. You will have doubts about if you can actually be a blogger and then there are times when you are this close to clicking on the delete button, but then something stops you from doing it. Something or someone reminds you how much and why you started blogging. So to all those bloggers whose blogs just turned 1 like myself, I want to tell you that you are pretty awesome and continue blogging :). Even though it is pretty late, I want to celebrate my blog's first birthday with everyone, so I picked my favorite four blog posts of 2012 to show to everyone
To see any of the full posts just click on the photo and it will redirect you to the post of your choice.

Gift Guide for the Intellectual Badass
  1. Astronaut Ice Cream  // Are you looking for something cute, fun and tasty? Then you should definitely buy Astronaut Ice Cream as a stocking stuffer for either your little future astronaut or for space food enthusiasts
  2. Geek Magazine // Okay, I absolutely love this magazine! I found the Nathan Fillion edition (all of the Firefly/Serenity fans know him as Captain Mal Reynolds) of this magazine and I couldn't stop reading it, not only did i enjoy his interview but I also loved reading about the new toys and games for the "intellectual badass. This magazine is a perfect combination of lifestyle, technology, music, gadgets, gaming, movies and comics, that even the most pickiest intellectual badass would enjoy .
  3. The IT Crowd The Complete Season One // "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" This show is beyond the funniest "nerd" shows that I have ever watched! At first I was pretty reluctant to watch it but after tons of nudging from my little sis, I have never laughed so much and so hard.
  4. Doctor Who TARDIS vs. Dalek Salt and Pepper Shakers   // "Exterminate! Exterminate!" Now this is a gift that would have me and any other Dr.Who junkie playing with our food! These Dr.Who inspired shakers are from thinkgeek.com, a place where geeks/nerds or my preferred title "the intellectual badass" can fill their Christmas list with.
  5. Darth Vader and Son Book // "I am your father! Now go to bed!" This Star Wars inspired illustrated children's book is filled with bed time stories, perfect for pint-sized Lukes and Leias. For any Star Wars loving parent, you have to get this for your kids!

Guift Guide for the Future and Current Travelers

Guift Guide for Future and Current Travelers

  1. Lonely Planet Travel Guides // I love getting travel books to places where I want to go, I am pretty much obsessed with them. Especially the ones printed in color ( i know more expensive but I feel it is completely worth it). Sometimes stories from other travelers are included in them, so it is pretty entertaining to read about other people's adventures in the country that you have been dreaming about for the longest.
  2. Kensington 33117 International All-in-One Travel Plug...  // A pocket sized adapter for a traveler? I will take one please! This all in one travel plug will be useful for most of your electronics worldwide. Don't believe me? Check out its reviews at the bottom of its amazon page.
  3. Lonely Planet The Big Trip (General Reference)  // Okay everyone,  I have this book and I can definitely attest  that this book is definitely worth the money. It is a general guide book so it covers pretty much everywhere and it is the perfect gift for beginner travelers who are not sure where they would like to go first.
  4. Personalized Passport Cover   // This is something that I have been wanting and dreaming about since reading Ilena from novelstyle's New adventures post with a picture of her passport cover (isn't it super cute?). A gift like this would definitely be loved by any traveler.
  5. White Apple USB-based Power Adapter for iPod   // This USB is perfect for travelers, the convenience of just plugging into a wall instead of firing up your laptop while waiting in the airport terminal or at a friends house. This also comes with a USB (something to carry around just in case you lose your original USB or break it).

Holiday Outfit Choice Map

Holiday Outfit Action Map

So today I wanted to have some fun with creating options for holiday party dresses, so I created a choice map. Your answers will lead you to three different outfits inspired mostly by celebrities. The middle outfit was inspired about an outfit that Taylor Swift wore recently, an outfit that I could even see her rocking at Christmas party. The outfit on the left is totally 100% inspired by JLo, it is a dress that will put you in the limelight and short enough that you can party in (also you recycle this dress and wear it for a New Year's Eve party). The outfit on the right is a little bit inspired by a mix of the Nutcracker and Selena Gomez. No matter what outfit you choose, you will definitely shine at any holiday party that you go to.

Gift Guide for the Budding Fashion Bloggers

Guift Guide for Budding Fashion Bloggers

  1. A DSLR camera // something that every fashion blogger should have, and something that I am working to get in the future. A DSLR camera can take clear cut pictures, which is an important attribute for any professional blog.
  2.  A fashion illustration // I am not sure about all fashion bloggers, but I would definitely love receiving a fashion illustration that I have been eying on pinterest (I have dedicated an entire board to fashion illustrations)
  3. Fashion 2.0: Blogging Your Way To The Front Row- The Insider's Guide... // I can personally tell you that reading this book, will definitely change the way that your blogger blogs and thinks about the way that she/he blogs. This book can be useful for any type of bloggers, but I believe a fashion blogger will benefit more from reading this book. This book is also available on the Nook.
  4. Writing Tools: 50 Essential Strategies For Every Writer [Paperback] // If your blogger is like me, they will definitely appreciate getting this book.
